Training
There are a number basic and advanced trainings available for birth parents, foster parents, case managers and the service delivery support team.
Many communities have requested specialized trainings for families or community groups. These trainings are available on request with plenty of advance notice.
Basic and advanced trainings are posted on the Education and services training website (formerly Joint training unit)—link in ESU.

FASD Training Series
The FASD training series is a part of the Southern First Nations Network of Care (Education and Training Unit). Training is open to CFS case managers, foster parents, birth families,, care providers and persons who live with the effects of maternal alcohol usage. All training is geared towards ensuring that families and communities are aware of how to work with the diagnosis from strengths based perspective. Given that FASD impacts so much of a child’s development and mental health the learning about this disability is a lifelong and intergenerational process.

Visions & Voices
Visions and Voices seeks to increase awareness in communities in order to reduce the stigma of FASD and to encourage healthy living and reproductive choices.
Visions and Voices presenters are role models who have been invited to present their stories in a variety of settings. They each tell of their unique story of hope, struggle, and accomplishment in addition to showing a professional life story vignette in DVD.
Individually or as a team, Visions and Voices participants can provide an adequate representation of the fetal alcohol spectrum of disorders.
The SFNNC are partners with Visions and Voices in their public awareness efforts - Jim Compton the SFFNC Media relations specialist produces the videos and Sue Mozdzen FASD Specialist sits on the Advisory committee assisting with some the groups awareness efforts within the Child welfare system and our communities. The group have been a part of our FASD training series here at the SFNNC and are an integral part of the workshop "Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder- Factual Information and Lifestories. This workshop has proved to be very information both as an introduction to FASD and as a review. We are honored to work with this group of talented youth and adults who live successfully with FASD. Many of their awareness efforts and success stories are featured throughout our website.
